Creating a Blog – Part 1

blogsI am often asked how to create a Blog so I am going to do a few articles over the next couple of weeks focusing on Blogs. What tools you need, how to create one, how to set one up, uploading images, content curation are just a few of the ideas.

  •  What is a Blog?
  •  Why should you Blog?
  • What should you Blog about?
  •  How to Create a Blog?

The first thing you need to do is set up your platform. I suggest you get set up with the WordPress blogging platform. WordPress is an awesome platform to build from. It is free and it is highly extendible with plug-ins and pre-designed themes.

I commonly see that it is when students first start they make poor decision that can affect the success of their; it’s a time that can be a little scary and stressful, and it is hard to know which direction to go. It can also seem as if everybody is giving conflicting advice.

This guide is simple. It is made to set you up on the right platforms from the beginning I know some people are drawn toward the prospect of free hosting accounts from organisations such as Tumblr, Blogger, or WordPress.com.

Alert No 1: If you are serious about growing your blog you should avoid such services because:-

  • You have very limited control of your own blog.
  • You don’t actually own it.
  • Hosting company has full rights to your work, and can shut you down for any reason, at any time.
  • It isn’t as good for SEO.
  • Its not good for Branding

It is HIGHLY recommended that you set up a blog which you have total control and ownership of; you will to need the following tools to create your blog.

  1. Domain Name
  2. Hosting for the Domain Name
  3. WordPress
  4. An Auto Responder to capture leads

Tomorrow we will look at how to register for these tools so please come back to learn more.
